TerraMaster NAS for local AI
Updated
Is TerraMaster good for local AI?
For light use. TerraMaster documents Ollama and Open WebUI in Docker on its x86 systems, and the F4-424 Max with a ten-core Core i5 and up to 64GB of memory has the most cores and memory in its range for this. None has an NPU or a GPU path, so models run on the CPU, and the ARM-based F4-212 cannot run them at all.

Which TerraMaster should you buy for AI?
The F4-424 Max is the pick: a Core i5-1235U, up to 64GB of DDR5 and two 10GbE ports. The F4-424 Pro ships with 32GB already fitted, which is also its ceiling, and TerraMaster's own Ollama guide names it. The F8 SSD Plus is all-flash with an i3-N305 and a 32GB ceiling. The F4-212 is an ARM storage box that does not support TerraMaster's AI features.
We checked for an F8 SSD Plus AI edition and found none.
What about TOS 7 AI features?
TOS 7 adds AI photo recognition and an AI agent for natural language queries. The agent is configured with an API key from a cloud provider, so it is not fully local. Treat TerraMaster as good-value storage that can run small private models, not as an AI platform.
